Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Ronny Gallegos aka Tha Boogie Bandit currently resides in Tokyo, Japan and spins EDM (electro, progressive, dubstep, trap) on the main floors at venues like ageHa, WOMB, Sound Museum Vision, and Club Asia. He is one half of CtrlFreaks, a DJ duo with over 100,000 subscribers to their bi-monthly iTunes podcast. He has played alongside Laidback Luke, Wolfgang Gartner, Kill the Noise, Bobby Burns, Tim Mason, Thomas Gold, Daddy’s Groove, Ferry Corsten, Mat Zo, Lazy Rich, Lucky Date, Starkillers, Paris & Simo, PeaceTreaty, Kid Massive, James Egbert, Feed Me, Moguai, Nari & Milani, Danny Avila, Tujamo, Bingo Players, Nom de Strip, and Seven Lions. In addition, he has produced and remixed original tracks, including “Like Dat” released on Beatport and iTunes, and the funk track, “FSS Freshness!” which became a hit within the breakdance world.
As part of Tokyo’s international DJ crew Turned On and resident of Rolling Thunder/Thunderbolt, Tha Boogie Bandit has set himself apart by playing his unique brand of original bootlegs/mashups main stage at top Tokyo clubs ageHa and Womb. His time spent living in Tokyo, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Seoul help bring an international flavor to his DJing. Combine that with over ten years of breakdancing and eight years on guitar and drums and you’ve got a DJ with an unsurpassable rhythmical sense, eclectic taste, and knowledge of contemporary music history.
