上海に拠点を置くサブカルチャーはアジア各国からのアーティスト、プロデューサー、DJ、デザイナーのコレクティブである。昨年の東京イベントに続いて、今年のサブカルチャーはSLVとマニラのCaliph8のライブなど、SVBKVLTレーベルからの様々のアーティスト・ショーケースを提示することになります。DJ Faded Ghost（ChaCha）、台湾のTzuSing、サブカルチャーのボスであるDrunk Monk、ビデオアーテストのKim Laughtonもサポート。

S L V (live)

S L Vは、Hamacide (東京)とDownstate (上海)の二人のプロデューサーによるコラボプロジェクト。２０１２年にベルギーのレコードレーベル、アーバン・ウエーブスよりデビュー作となるEPをリリースした後、上海のSVBKVLTレーベルからこれまでのS LV最強の作品となりうる'Dagger'を2013年１０月２１日 にリリースする予定。SVBKVLTレーベルは、”Dagger”を10インチレコードシリーズの最初を飾るに相応しく、自分たちのレーベルからリリースできることを誇りに思っている。

タフで映画的な80/160bpmトラックの'Dagger'は、二人のプロデューサーのスタイルがうまくぶつかり合い、頭脳に響きわたるだけでなく、踊れるトラックである 。
フィンランドのビートメーカーDesto（Signal Life 、Rwina）がB面で”Dagger”のリミックスを 担当。 最大のエネルギーを感じさせる東アジアを経てからの北欧フットワークスタイル！
Fabric（London)、The Shelter (上海)、Ageha（東京）などの世界一流のダンスフロアー を盛り上げた”Dagger”は Kode9、Perera Elsewhere (Jahcoozi)、 Puzzle (Leisure System)、Doshy 、Desto等の数々の大物プロデューサーからも絶大な支持を受 けている。

Caliph8 (live)

Caliph8はマニラからのビートメーカー、DJ、グラフィティアーティスト、MC。 1995からマニラの音楽シーンで活躍し、最も尊敬される有名なアンダーグラウンドアーティストである。彼のライブはMPCのみでサウンドスケープを作る設定なので、このスキルは絶対に見てほしい。

Faded Ghost

Faded Ghostは中国の貴州省出身のはChaChaの名義である。様々なジャンルで活躍しているChaChaはトリップホップ／ダウンビートをメインとして作曲、作詞、制作をしています。彼女が作っている音はDJ Shadow, Portishead, Board of Canada, Tujiko Noriko等に影響され暗くてムーディーです。去年、ChaChaは史 上初の 中国人としてRed Bull Music Academyに参加者し、Doc Daneeka, Nick Hook, XXXY, Phoebe Kiddo等とレコーディングしました。ChaChaはKode9, Clive Chin, Jahtari, Desto, Jimi Tenor, Adrian Sherwood, Hamacide, Rumi 等とも制作し ています。

TzuSIng

台湾出身のTzuSingはこの何年間上海で自分の独特のサウンドを完成し、彼の最初のリリースである、'Teeth'は、Clan Destine Traxx のDark Acid Seriesとしてリリ ースされました。TzusingはKim Laughtonと上海最大の、Dark wave to Technoのイ ベントである "Stockholm Syndrome"を実行しています。

Kim Laughton (visuals)

Kim Laughtonは上海で最もオリジナルなビジュアルアーティスト。彼はそFade To MindやLit City Traxなどのアルバムジャケットやポスターをデザインし、 Visionist やDownstateなどのMVを制作したりしています。彼が始めたデジタルファッションブランドであるTimeflyは世界から注目されています。

Based in Shanghai, China, Sub-Culture is a collective of artists, producers, DJs and designers from around Asia. Following our first event in Tokyo last year, Sub-Culture are excited to present a showcase of some of the artists from our label SVBKVLT, including live shows from SLV and Manila’s Caliph8, DJ sets from Faded Ghost (ChaCha), Taiwan’s TzuSing and Sub-Culture head honcho Drunk Monk along side live visuals from Kim Laughton.

SLV

SLV is the collaborative project from Downstate (Shanghai) and Hamacide (Tokyo). With Hamacide releasing on labels such as Oil Works and Prefuse 73’s Eastern Developments, and Downstate having released a split EP with Porn Sword Tobacco as well as his solo work for Urban Waves, the pairs styles collide and compliment each other perfectly. Taking hints of footwork, instrumental hip-hop and movie scores, SLV is some of the freshest music to come out of Asia at the moment.

Caliph8

Caliph8 a.k.a Arvin Nogueras, is an electronic musician, DJ, graffiti artist and MC. Since 1995 he has been active in the Manila music scene and is one of the most respected and celebrated underground artists in the area. A graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts, his interests and activities also extend to the visual arts – celebrating hip-hop culture traditions by merging his influences with other art forms. A man of many talents, Caliph8 performs solo live sets on the MPC, or combines his MPC skills into his DJ sets, as well as performing with his band Bent Lynchpin, creating live scores for silent movies and also creating art installations combining his visual and musical creations. He has performed and worked with artists such as D-Styles, The Gaslamp Killer, Red-I and many more

Faded Ghost

Faded Ghost is the latest project from Shanghai’s ChaCha. ChaCha has been making a name for herself over the last 6 years, spanning many genres and working with artists such as Kode9, Adrian Sherwood, Jahtari, Clive Chin, Jimmy Tenor, Desto and many more. She was also a member of the Red Bull Music Academy in Madrid and has performed at various festivals around the globe, such as Rototom Sunsplash in Spain, Worldtronics Festival in Berlin and Sakifo Festival on Reunion Island. Faded Ghost is her experimental electronics project. She creates cinematic soundscapes and abstract beats using/sampling her own voice, field recordings and synthesizers. Her DJ sets involve a lot of her own productions as well as some of the freshest beats you’ll hear today.

TzuSing

Taiwan’s TzuSing has been residing in Shanghai for a fair few years now and has been quietly perfecting his sound, keeping his productions relatively under wraps until now. His first release, a track entitled ‘Teeth’, has just been released on Clan Destine Traxx as part of the highly collectable Dark Acid series, and sits alongside tracks by Jamal Moss (Hyroglyphic Being), Twins and Tract. Together with Kim Laughton, Tzu runs Stockholm Syndrome, Shanghai’s premier Industrial, Dark Wave and Techno night, as well as being a regular guest for Sub-Culture events. With more high profile releases on the horizon, you will be hearing a lot more from TzuSing very soon.

Kim Laughton

Kim Laughton is one of the most prolific and original visual artists living in Shanghai. He has designed album covers and posters for labels such as Fade To Mind and Lit City Trax, has made music videos for the likes of Visionist and Downstate and his ‘TIMEFLY’ digitally printed garments have been catching the attention of artists, fashion designers and organizations worldwide. Kim will be supplying specially designed visuals throughout the whole night.
